FAQs (A2 Ghee)

Q1. What does “A2” mean?

Ghee obtained from the A2 milk of our indigenous Indian breed, the Badri cow, is rich in A2 milk protein type. It is also said to be beneficial for heart disease. Many scientific studies also claim that consuming this ghee helps wounds heal faster. Moreover, the proline present in A2 Badri cow ghee helps in strengthening the heart muscles and arteries, thereby reducing the risk of any major heart disease.

Q2. Can I cook at high heat with ghee?

Yes, ghee is usually the right choice when it comes to making Indian food in that heat, but it is important to know that too much of anything is not good. Heat to not more than 60-70 degrees Celsius.

Q3. Does it imply that it is grainy and pure?

Most people believe that the ghee is purest and tastiest when it is grainy (daanedar). The cooled ghee crystallizes different fatty acids in it, and these include palmitic and stearic acid, a process called crystallization; the crystals are formed into small granules, which can be an indication of purity, and the diet, say grass. Such texture is typical in pure A2 ghee and does not affect quality, although some adulterants can do so, like starch.

Q4. How much ghee should I consume daily?

Ghee is a taste maker to any food, but eating it in moderation can offer numerous health benefits. Conversely, taking excessive amounts of ghee may result in serious damage. On average, ghee is supposed to be used at 1-2 teaspoons (10-20 grams) per day by a healthy person.

Q5. Does ghee expire?

Yes, just like other things, desi ghee can spoil. When the smell and taste of desi ghee change, you should understand that it has gone bad. If you store desi ghee properly, it will last up to three years. For this, you should store desi ghee in an airtight container. Keeping it away from the air helps prevent it from spoiling for a long time. Also, always store desi ghee in a glass container. Alternatively, you can store it in the refrigerator.
